If you want disable the AVG Search in address-bar, please follow these steps:
1) Type in address-bar about:config and press Enter
2) Confirm warning dialog
3) Find keyword.URL (you can use Filter)
4) Change value of keyword.URL to:
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q=
No, this doesn't work. Anyone know how to fix this problem?
What do you mean? What doesn't work?
The search box next to the navigation bar is still set to AVG.
I have found elsewhere since my post that the correct fix for this is:
Go to the about:config page as before.
Find the row
browser.search.defaultenginename
Change it to
Google
Restart your browser, all sorted!
Yes, but that's not what this blogpost is about :-). It resets the search engine in the navigation bar, not the search engine box.
You could easily select the dropdown list too to select your favorite search engine.
