How to disable AVG search in the Firefox navigation bar

If you want disable the AVG Search in address-bar, please follow these steps:

1) Type in address-bar about:config and press Enter
2) Confirm warning dialog
3) Find keyword.URL (you can use Filter)
4) Change value of keyword.URL to:

http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q=

No, this doesn't work. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

The search box next to the navigation bar is still set to AVG.

I have found elsewhere since my post that the correct fix for this is:

Go to the about:config page as before.

Find the row

browser.search.defaultenginename

Change it to

Google

Restart your browser, all sorted!

Yes, but that's not what this blogpost is about :-). It resets the search engine in the navigation bar, not the search engine box.
You could easily select the dropdown list too to select your favorite search engine.

Select your preferred way to display the comments and click "Save settings" to activate your changes.
